The Office of Information Technology would like to notify all Chancery staff that the "refresh project" in the Office of the Archbishop conference room (3rd floor south) is now complete and ready for use. Deployed upgrades include:
• A new 75” LCD TV
• A Meeting Owl 4+ tabletop device (360-degree conference call camera and speaker system with microphone)
• A new micro-PC (mounted underneath the conference room table)
Using the equipment is easy. Simply login to the PC with your credentials, start your Teams or Zoom meeting as you normally would and the Owl will do the rest. Also, the Owl features volume level and mute buttons on either side in the event any private “sidebars” need to occur during a conference call. For further information on how the Owl integrates into your conference calls, please see the two following links:
• For Teams, click here
• For Zoom, click here
The Owl’s speaker/mic system can also be used for audio-only Teams/Zoom meetings as well. However, if a simply audio conference call is all that is required, the Polycom conference phone is still available (please just be sure that, when finished, it is returned to the credenza and the power charger cable is reattached so that the unit will be ready for the next meeting organizer).
Though the PC should never need to be rebooted, it may from time to time need to be powered on (should a building power failure occur). Meeting organizers can do so much more easily as it is located inside the conference room (under the table mount) as opposed to the locked file room next door. Like our “Teams rooms” throughout the Chancery, all equipment is now accessible within the conference room itself.
All PC sound output from functions like playing back a YouTube video or recorded meeting will also come through the tabletop Owl. The equipment should all go to sleep once the meeting is closed, and the meeting organizer has logged out. As the Crestron unit that sat on the credenza has been removed, powering on/off the TV is done via the LG remote control that is in the room.
